TIME FOR IAN BISHOP TO GO

We all respect Ian Bishop's knowledge of the game but we must not bury our heads in the sand and pretend that his on air currently in NZ is cricket commentary, far from it.

Mr.Bishop questioned the wisdom of NZ not having a short leg for Shia Hope and immediately after that rant, a short leg was put in place. Mr.Bishop then stated that Shia Hope is uncomfortable dealing with the short pitched ball and wondered why NZ wasn't more aggressive with the short pitch ball to Shia Hope.

At the drinks break the message from Mr.Bishop was relayed to the NZ captain and fast bowlers and immediately after that, persistent use of the short pitch ball to Shia Hope accounted for his downfall. Mr.Bishop claimed he is not a WI commentator but is a commentator from the WI. What arrogance from this man!!!!!!

I think it is time for CWI to cut ties with Mr.Ian Bishop. He can continue to ply his trade with other organizations and cricket networks around the world but please, no more with CWI.

Yes, there are analyst and coaches working for the BlackCaps, let them do their work, they should not be assisted by Ian Bishop who at times tries to sound too smart for my liking.

@Coach200

@Coach200

So is it Bishop's fault why after 10yrs in international cricket Hope cannot ride the ball into his mid-riff? Is the WI batting coach Bishop or Riefer?.

Bishop is paid as a TV analyst, not a CWI employee.

@Coach200

Why you so emotional bishop does not work for the cwi does not owe them anything the man is doing his job .did you have the sane uproar for phil simmons as coach of the bangladesh side when they beat the wi

@Brerzerk

Fazeer Mohammed was ostracized by CWI? Hope you can remember why.

CWI can do the same to Mr.Bishop, we don't want him around WI cricket.

As I stated, Mr.Bishop is free to ply his trade as a commentator with any other cricket organization and he is free to work with any cricket broadcasting network.

Bishop is probably the most objective of all commentators ...he's seems to be a very up tight straight-laced banna lacking in personality an humour just hell bent on being the best he can at his job an dats ok i guess ....should imagine socially he's not a barrel of laughs or somebody you would go out of your way to greet!

Wed, Dec 3, '25 at 4:17 PM

@Coach200

but my friend, that's what he is doing; working for The NZ broadcaster and ESPN. Are you suggesting that CWI should stipulate in their bilateral tour agreements that Bishop shouldn't cover any WI games?

Wed, Dec 3, '25 at 4:47 PM

@Brerzerk

Sorry if I am not making myself clear.

As Mr.Bishop said, he is a cricket commentator from the WI, not a WI cricket commentator. Let us keep it that way.

When the WI cricket team is playing in the Caribbean, the Governing body has a say in on air commentators. The same goes for when cricket is being played in NZ, India, Australia, SA, England and any other cricketing nation. We don't want him commentating our matches in the Caribbean.

Think for one minute what would happen to an Indian commentator if any of them ever employ a similar commentating style against any of the Indian batters (men or women).

Hope you understand.

@CCW

Bishop is probably the most objective of all commentators

Are you serious right now????

Bishop is extremely biased towards TnT players.

He is anti-Bajan as well.

Feel free to listen to him when Seales bowling,

and compare it to the other bowlers.

😩

Let me point out that I am not in favor of this tread about banning him.

I'm just saying that he is anti-Bajan, and biased to TnT.

I'm never in favor of banning a commie cause of prejudice.

I usually watch the games with the sound muted.

I listen to Danny Morrison, Carlos Braithwaite and Pommie Mbangwa.

I especially hate listening to all Hinglish and Hindian commies, and Bishop.

Bishop annoys me with his Trini rave.

Ganga also annoys me with his Trini love.

Commies should be objective, but not many are.

@imusic

No, I do not think CWI employs Bishop in the commentary box.
Please learn to read and understand what is written and stop making a fool of yourself.
In case you missed it let me repeat it here for you again. The Governing body has a say in who commentates their matches in their territory, the only time this is an exception is when the ICC chooses all the commentators for their tournaments such as the world T20.
Hope this helps. Sometimes it is frustrating engaging folks who are clueless about what goes on around international cricket.
