How can you play cricket all your life and can't hold a bat?

@methodic

I was just saying the same thing and as PE teacher he would be teaching kids how to bat!😂

He didn’t pick himself.

Besides……he wouldn’t have thought in his wildest dreams that he would be playing international cricket for West Indies at this stage of his career.

This isn’t on him. This is on those that picked him.

@imusic

At this stage?

he’s only 29. How old are the New Zealand debutants?

Rae Duffy and tickner are all over 30, rocker is 32!

at 29 he should have had enough time to hone his skills at the FC level. Not that he’s a Walsh McGrath or Donald who can play their entire careers without caring how to hold a bat. They were that good.

this guy here needs to be able to at least hold one end up for 20 balls. That’s not too much to ask for

The WI went to the back of the cupboard when the selected Shields, he has so far worked out with the ball, but every department in his game needs working on

@brians_da_best

I don’t follow NZ cricket.

But from reports, Rae, Duffy, and Tickner all perform at FC cricket in their domestic league.

So apparently, their call up to the test team wasn’t a total shock. On the contrary, given the bowlers who were absent from the NZ team, it seems as if their call up to the test squad was predictable.

Contrast that to Shields who even had Jamaicans asking “Ojay who???” when his selection was announced.

Even Walsh bats better

Make Walsh look like hooper ...lol

Just a question. Was Shields selected to bat or bowl? So much focus on Shields when all the batsmen failed!

WHAT?

OJ is almost 30 yo -- Age - 29y 299d
List A Matches, Debut: February 01, 2018

So he's been playing "top level" cricket in the Wondies for 8 years....

Why you acting like he's 16 or 17....??

At this stage of his life if he's still playing cricket, then, what's his goal? Not to play at the highest level of the game? You got to be ready, bro.

Man should be in the nets working on every facet of the game.... that's the problem with wondians... once they "make it" they don't need to work on their game. SMH.

Folks talking about the dude and whether he can hold a bat or not at 30 yo... that's a valid question.

Start another thread about the other batsmen who failed. Thanks.

Ok nearing 30 he bats at 11 for his regional team where he has played 17 FC matches with a HS 22, only playing his 2nd test what exactly you expected, Brian Lara?
