How does Chase justify his place?

Allyuh know I find Tage talentless, but at least he scored a very chancy 50 last test. Ruston Chase has done nothing to justify a return to the WI team as a player and worse yet as captain and has not done anything to justify his place since his return

@Jumpstart

Not to mention all out for 205 and out there a skin him grin like a 405. Kmt.

Twenty sinting average from your top six batters not gonna cut it in international cricket!

A win now and then that’s all you can expect but hope for a miracle in this Test a la the last one!

Head Coach pick.....no justification....

@Onionman0

The best interviewed!?

Wed, Dec 10, '25 at 6:26 AM

He did not pick himself and even he was suprised when sammy made him captain

His 5 test centuries came in the previous decade. He has not scored a single century this decade.

@Seechy

Don’t ask what his batting or bowling average is since his return to test cricket.

Chase is essentially a back-foot player which automatically makes him more susceptible to lbw but seems to get bowled more often than lb which is puzzling ...could understand if on the front foot an the ball nips back through the gate but on the back foot your stumps should be covered more in the event of a nip-backer with yuh pads being yuh second line of defence....i give up i ain able with these dunce!!!!

Having gotten no where with Imlach, it seems the tits have settled on Goosey Chase to express their wrath for Tarnish DeSilva not getting pick

have at it Tits. DeSilva still not playing

I am not here to justify Chase, as he did not make himself cappo.

Chase was one of out best batsman at one time.

He seem to have forgotten the art of batsmanship.

He is playing white ball batting in test games.

He is opening up his legs and playing away from his bat.

Sam thing with King and Hetty.

Chase showed a few glimpses of batting last night.

One very behaviour that supports my conclusion is his behaviour when a ball goes to a fielder.

In test cricket, when one plays a good shot and it goes to a fielder,

or the fielder makes a great stop creating a dot,

the test batsman look to playing the next ball.

these men scream and demonstrate frustration when they do not get value for a shot.

That's not test batting, that is T20 batting.

We jump the gun and say:

This man and that man cannot bat.

Well are we being fair to the men,

or are we jumping to conclusions.

I opine that it is hard to be patient with failure,

not recognizing that this is a very weak team,

an extremely weak system,

a weaker team of leader on the board etc.

I am not defending Chase, but are those attacking him considering all nuances?

Every 9 innings for the past 5 years Roston gives us a 50+.... (70 highest, tops)

WAAY WAY over due in 2025.... 13 innings and counting

Wed, Dec 10, '25 at 12:02 PM

1, 50+ a year in the past 5 years....

The most innings in 1 year for the last 5 years? 11.

He's up to 13 innings this year and ZERO score of 50+....

@FunnyMan

Not to mention his captaincy last night. No facking short leg. Why, because NZ didn't use one. And the grinning, pissed me off.

Wed, Dec 10, '25 at 2:05 PM

@Tantemerle

What nuances?

The combined appointment of Chase/Warrican into onfield leadership clearly shows a lack of critical thinking. It is nigh impossible to pick a balanced WI XI with both in the team, actually almost impossible with either...and in any condition much less where most of our cricket is played.
