I hold my breath when the ball goes to Campbell, King, Phillip, Shields, Seales. Issues catching, stopping the ball and forget runouts. I thought fielding was the easiest part in Cricket? WI make it difficult. Help the bowlers stay motivated please.
WI Fielding is Atrocious
@methodic
what's the point of that speculation? Oh, forget we should be disappointed that we can't have higher expectations for a "hurry come up surprise pick" than a semi-retired vet.
@Brerzerk
I don't know why all yuh keep talking about surprise pick. The man is a career cricketer good enough to play for Jamaica for years. We are talking about basic execution in the game.
Our fielding has been near abysmal, particularly during the OZ series.
Out fielding is arguably as bad as our batting and just as “consistent”.
Yet fielding coach Rayon Griffith escapes any kind of scrutiny.
Maybe Sammy will say people don’t know how hard Griffith works at his job
Not just the fielding but the fitness needs to improve. Concentration is key in all areas of the game.
These players are all mentally weak as they buckle under game pressure.
But this could be lack of matches played at the FC and highest level
You will hear in the practices sessions they take all the catches [ in simulated slips and in the outfield....hit the stumps at throw ins...
@Narper
They can’t complain about lack of match practice. The core group of players……Hope, Chase, Seales, Greaves, and King have been playing continuous cricket since the tour of Ireland in May. They’re among the biggest offenders.
The likes of Campbell, Athanaze, and Phillip have been with the squad since Oz and India.
Given the deficiency in fielding that the team has consistently showed, it boggles my mind that a player like Fabien Allen, arguably the best fielder in world cricket, can’t even crack the white ball squad.
Allen’s value in the field alone is worth his spot on the team IMO and may be just the catalyst required to lift the standard of his peers.
