I did not rate Anderson Phillip BUT

that ball he dismissed Kane Williamson was an absolute beauty.If he produces balls like that on a regular basis he is going to be a fixture in the team.

@Dukes

Prior to this match, has he produced another ball like that?

BTW I have a lot of time for Phillip

seemingly he gives it his all

@Dukes

Broken clock .

Need more time to rate.

He has shown what he is capable of.

That's all.

@Dukes

He is normally more economical and consistent, I guess ring rust. Hopefully he will be better in the 2nd innings. He is handy with the bat too as he exhibited in India. The question for all these pace bowlers is where do they fit in when the two Josephs return as they add the x factor pace to an otherwise medium pace based attack.

@Dukes

I saw it!

The problem with these guys is they are not patient enough. They tried to experiment too much with bouncers instead keep bowling that line and length and build pressure like the Aussies did to the Poms. Eventually, something has to give.

@Dukes

Bish was pointing out a flaw which he says has existed for sometime....at point of delivery his back leg collapses and his head goes down to the left and he is then seeing the slips region rather than the batsman.

So which coach is working with the guy....who has been around for sometime but only gets the odd test match...he has never played consecutive test matches.

Anderson Phillip - Progressive Bowling - Test Cricket

@voiceofreason

With the plethora of cricket nowadays and given how easily bowlers breakdown, its time our backup bowler show quality. And it's important to develop bench strength.

I am happy for Phillips and also Sheilds has fitted right in.

Seales may be suffering from a bit of fatigue. For his sake I am happy only one more game before a break from all the cricket and the Josephs should be back and raring to go alongside him.

And oh Greaves seem to be developing into a solid all-rounder - with bat and ball

@Narper

@Dukes

Bishop's analysis is right.

His technique on delivering the ball has some major flaws.

If he hasn't corrected them by now, he never will.

Fri, Dec 19, '25 at 7:10 AM

I still dont lacks control and has no pace

Fri, Dec 19, '25 at 7:25 AM

@Dukes

Well the commies feels due to his "process to the delivery" needs work. Conclusion, will be difficult to repeat consistently.

Fri, Dec 19, '25 at 10:06 AM

Phillip has been around for 8 years and only now they are noticing flaws in his technique? Coaching in the WI is really sub-standard, it is one of the negatives that is keeping the international team back.

Fri, Dec 19, '25 at 10:18 AM

He will serve as a back up, nothing more. This is not to slight Phillip as a bowler, more to point out that Shamar Joseph, Jayden Seales, Kemar Roach & to a slightly lesser extent, Alzarri Joseph are all ahead of him.

Having a few bowlers like Ojay Shields & Anderson Phillip on the fringe is always of benefit, especially with how the schedules are put together nowadays, with so many test matches being back-to-back affairs that are particularly hard on the fast bowlers. That being said, in general, West Indian players are behind other teams when it comes to their overall level of fitness. Yet another area that requires attention.
