The 5 Worse Test Batsman to play 35 matches

Tue, Dec 16, '25 at 8:54 PM

Saw a Tik Tok with someone saying "he's one of the worse test batsman to ever play for the West Indies, minimum 35 test matches.

Didn't name anyone, suspect he was inviting comments

Many have gotten long runs and averaged 25 and under. Those who readily come to mind are

Daren Ganga 48 matches, 25.71

Kieran Powell 45 matches, 25.76

Devon Smith 43 matches, 23.78

Currently Roston Chase has played 56 matches with an average of 24.79 and falling

Who's the 5th ?

Found another video with him bashing Kraigg and cussing CWI for removing him from their accreditation list 😂

@LBW375

most of this present team will make that list if they’re allowed to play 35 matches

the only realistic exception is hope and he has some work to put in in tests to get that average up. At least hes on an upward trajectory

While Roston Chase has underperformed with the bat,

He has 93 wickets in his 56 tests.

He is not a batsman, but an all-rounder.

All-rounders has that 2-prong attack,

which makes comparing them to pure batsmen not reasonable.

Put up a list of all-rounders and then make your ppoint.

93 wickets in 56 tests is less than 2 wickets a test. Not exactly all rounder material.

he really is a batsman who bowls a bit, only that he isn’t delivering with the bat either

@TanteMerle

Imlach is an all-rounder.

Gave the all-rounder classification a second thought. A bowler then needs to be dropped. The formula I thought Sammy was working with was 5 bowlers, get me 20 wickets. But we have weakened the batting with an additional bowler. Chase bat's at 7 and we play a bat's for a bowler. Your choice?

The WI batters have been down bad for decades now. I believe the poor pitch conditions have had a say in the poor averages

@dayne

I feel it's a little more than poor pitches

It's poor coaching from grassroots through various stages, it's the absence of mentors, proper regular coaching clinics, lack of academies, FC clubs lacking feeder systems.

West Indies cricket needs a complete overhaul

@LBW375

Yes, proper coaching and mentoring are vital to develop quality batsmen.

Recently, one of our cricket legends gave a critique of a current player. The legend noted the current player does not move his back foot across when he plays the off drive. He felt this is a huge flaw that has to be corrected if the player is to succeed in Test cricket.

Well Hooper with 114 wickets in 102 tests has a worse record.

Ben Stokes had 238 in 117 , poor as well

Just 2 recognized allrounder names off my head.

I am not the person who officially classifies allrounders.

We West Indians tend to be harsh on our own.

As a psychologist, I understand that this is because of hurt.

We are hurting, as our team sucks.

Chase bat's at 7 and we play a bat's for a bowler.

Your wish is Scammy's command

Injured Shields dropped for Athanaze tonight

Please bear in mind that I express my opinion here.

I have no connection to CWI.

I try to type from facts and not emotions.

Although as human, I can err.

@TanteMerle

I am beginning to believe Sammy does look for my posts to see what to do.
