Queen Mia named among Forbes 100 powerful women

Thu, Dec 18, '25 at 9:02 AM

Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley has been ranked at No. 99 on the 2025 Forbes World’s 100 Most Powerful Women list, marking yet another appearance for the Barbadian leader on the prestigious global ranking.

Mottley was also featured on the list in both 2023 and 2024, placing her among a small number of Caribbean leaders to earn consistent recognition by Forbes. The publication assesses women across politics, business, philanthropy, and media, using criteria such as measurable influence, authority, and global impact.

Mottley’s continued inclusion reflects her growing international profile, particularly through her leadership in global climate policy advocacy, calls for international financial reform, and her role within the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

I really think she should have ranked #1 but that’s just my personal opinion.

Mia Mottley and Rihanna been on that list for past 5 to 10 years. Any other Caribbean states achieve such a feat?

Oh, now we’re doing the “it matters not whose time it is” routine. How convenient. Like leadership is some kind of rotating weather pattern that just happens and no one’s responsible for the damage.

Your party didn’t “inherit challenges.” It left the country flirting with bankruptcy, ballooning deficits, fiscal theatrics, and the kind of “short-term sugar high” economics that always comes due later. That short fcking idiot finance minister's policies were to borrow and tax more and run down the HSF from 12.5 billion USD to less than 6 billion in 10 years.

And yes, we’ll see the merits of this government in time. That’s the point: governing isn’t judged in cable-news cycles. It shows up in jobs, prices, investment, stability, and stuff that takes time to move.

Economics 101: turning an economy around is slow. It takes roughly 18–24 months to see a meaningful shift, sometimes longer, because policy changes filter through hiring, consumer behaviour, supply chains, and investor expectations.

Destroying confidence? That’s fast. You can torch stability in months with reckless moves, like slapping on tariffs that function as a tax on consumers and businesses, or passing a “big beautiful” bill that sounds great on a podium but reads like a deficit bomb when you do the math.

So sure, let’s stop with the coy phrasing. If the claim is “don’t blame us, it’s just timing,” the answer is: timing doesn’t pass legislation. People do.

Jamaica’s impact on the world in various fields throughout history is highly recognised. This was again reaffirmed as noted Human Rights Activist Marcus Garvey, Reggae Music legends Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, as well as Sprint King Usain Bolt, were named among the most influential Black People Ever in the world.

The recently compiled list by Global Statistics, which included the likes of Nelson Mandela, Mansu Musa, Hailey Saleissei, among others, saw the four Jamaicans ranked among the 50 standout black persons who’ve significantly impacted the world in and beyond their respective disciplines across various eras in history.

No debate on Jamaica slippy. Jamaica is a standout by any metric from sports to culture to music to food. Was addressing specifically 100 Most Powerful Women. Rihanna and Mia Mottley are repeats on Powerful Women list .
