How did Barbados lose Jofra Archer ?
I seem to recall it was less of a “Barbados” issue and more of a West Indies issue in that WI selectors didn’t deem him fit to be selected to a youth team?
I may be mistaken.
@imusic
Your are sorely mistaken, as he was injured.
Archer got injured and the BCA and CW igniored him, as usual.
His stepfather took care of him medically and nursed him to fitness.
Chris Jordon advised him to use his connection with his father (British)
Chris Jordon introduced him to his coach at Sussex and
he got a contract for the remainder of that season, which was in progress.
Hingland selected him for a tour match versus Pakistan.
He took 5 wickets in the game.
Hindland then fast tracked him, changing their eligibility rule.
BTW: Archer was al allrounder in Barbados, not a bowler only.
Archer is better than his record, as he has battled injuries all career.
Bottomline, he is in Hngland cause BCA and CWI is=gnored him when he first got injured.
@Chrissy
Archer is 30 years old and has 54 test wickets at an average of 32…
overhyped….
@FanAttick
could have used him last night
because Philip and Shields arent ready
@Chrissy
Jacob Bethell will be next bajan Pommie star....already being groomed by ECB
@allan
could have used him last night
because Philip and Shields arent ready
That Archer 5-fee is the luckiest 5-fer I have ever seen….3 of the 5 wickets were gifted…nothing special…
Seales is a way better bowler…I agree that Philip and Shields are not ready…I don’t rate Archer…
Why are you mentioning Shields when he wasn’t even playing? Apparently out with an injury but he was sadly needed, as he seems to get difficult wickets.
@Chrissy
He is not the only one who got ignored. Shields was ignored by the JCA. and look where he is now? He is raw, but for me has a lot to work with.
Dont know about Shields but they definitely lost big with Archer. U tell me that with all the hexperts they could not see his potential? The man not even get picked for u19. So much for the system
