Is this Trini going to break up the "West Indies" again?

Then it was 1 from 10 equals 0, now it's throwing CARICOM under the Trump bus.

Trump does not ever pay for anything. In this case, using local parlance, "she throw herself on him, and Trump just dingolay." Like in the classic calypso by the Mighty Sparrow, Dolphus continues to sign for her supper. "Sing Dolphus sing: sing Dalphus sing; sing till you throat get high; you got to sing for this rum tonight." And, as Dolphus becomes inebriated, the shame plate breaks, and as the old folks say, "mouth open and story jump out." On a more serious note, the lady accused her fellow Caricom leaders of "hiding behind the glibness of diplomacy, FAKE SOPHISTICATION and false narratives and false narratives." That's a very loaded accusation which seems very personal, and pregnant with meanings way beyond a boundary. Mia Mottley had just been named in Forbes' 100 most influential women.

@Besar

What I can is she has fallen into the Trump's trap, and one has to wonder what is it that she and/or her family have to protect in the USA, causing her so willingly to accept the American offer.

Is all of this being done more in the interest of the people of Trinidad or in her personal interest?

The Americans would never have asked Mia to accept their military. Behind the scene, among others, their ambassador would have conveyed the Bajans independent streak.

As the late former Prime Minister of Barbados, Errol Barrow, said in two famous quotes:

  1. “We will be friends of all, satellites of none.”
  2. “We shall not involve ourselves in sterile ideological wrangling because we are exponents not of the diplomacy of power but of the diplomacy of peace and prosperity.”

Every Barbadian prime minister since then, irrespective of party or their politics, have adhered to these founding principles.

Trump has turned diplomacy, economics and finance, peace and war into one global mess, and has now turned to bring that mess more prominently into the eastern Caribbean.

@Casper

her statements are simplistic unless of course she's prepared at some point to also tell Trinibagonians not to criticize TNT i.e. free speech dun.

@Casper

Bajans owned by the British, so I don't know about any independent streak

It seems you know little about T&T history and documents signed by the British and the last government entity in T&T with the US , and what the repercussions are.

It would be wise not to comment until you are fully versed. 😡
