Hodge refuses to be downpressed by Chase

Sat, Dec 20, '25 at 10:58 PM

Chase is trying to repeat what Sobers did to Combined islands cricketers. Times are different, Hodge will shine, with bat and ball no matter your evil ways, Chase.

@Edrich

That is a serious statement

"Syndrome!" The 1st Windward Islanders to play tests Findlay, Grayson and Irving Shillinford debut under Sobers?

@Brerzerk

I'd say Sobers wasn't that type of guy and it's easily proven that region in the Carribbean has not given us a world class cricketer to this very day.

@Brerzerk

david Murray was not the wicket keeper for the Barbados team, but was playing ahead of Finely.

Irvin shillingford, scored a classy 20, in test, but was still discarded, shortly afterwards.

In Sobers, own words, he stated, During trial matches, they would do what was practical, to make sure players from the combined islands, would not be up for consideration.

@Edrich

Windwards Islands none have given us a proven world class player that any selector in our set up would be just forced to pick him even if he that wicked selector suffered from the bias syndrome. Winston Davis, Devon Smith and others were not good enough to have walking in rights into any west Indian team of the past.

@jamcricket

I beg to differ ,Davies would have been a great but for his unfortunate accident

@Edrich

Sober did make that statement in relation to a Windward Island fast bowler that was competing with Wes hall to make the team. I believe the player was from St. Vincent, and in the practice sessions they plotted, and savagely attacked the bowler to spoil his chances. Up to that time he was ahead of Hall. I forgot the name f that fast bowler. But, how is Chase doing that to Hodge?

@Edrich

Quite a stretch Bro. I am too young to know about the Sobers issue you speak about however with Roston it has nothing to do with Kavem but moreso Roston's determination to contribute something to the team . I like Roston but he is out of his depth in Test cricket and as Captain. I hope he proves me wrong come 2nd innings if he gets to bat, but then I again I hope he does not get to bat as I have zero confidence in his ability to contribute in saving this match.
