WI in NZ - Final Stats & Review (Bowling)

K.Roach 10 wkts @ 23 - easily the pick of the attack, sorely missed in the 3rd & final test

A.Phillip 6 wkts @ 49 - bowled some good deliveries but far too many loose deliveries

J.Seales 6 wkts @ 56 - at times he was unlucky but overall missed his lines too often

O.Shields 5 wkts @ 35 - promising start but lack of fitness when crucial 3rd test came around

J.Greaves 5 wkts @ 48 - inconsistent accuracy mixed with testing spells from the all-rounder

R.Chase 3 wkts @ 119 - a series to forget for the hapless captain

K.Hodge 2 wkts @ 46 - under bowled when the captain chose to over bowl himself

J.Layne 1 wkt @ 127 - solitary outing when he failed to show his promise

Overall, grade D - disappointing performance by a seriously weakened attack minus the services of the talisman Shemar Joseph and extra pace & bounce of Alzarri Joseph. No major concerns going forward with regards to the bowling so long as everybody is fit & rested.

Promising start from Shields one of the positives, along with the return of Roach who continues to prove his worth.

@4REALQUICKS

Fully agreed. Did we miss a trick by not playing Warrican in this third test? We need a balanced bowling attack and Warrican is probably the best spinner currently now that Motie is so badly out of form. Chase is really only a white ball bowler and should play pretty much as a batsman as do Hodge and Athanaze and not as anyone who is required to bowl seriously at test level.
