Why can’t our R4D get as strong as Aussies

Mon, Dec 22, '25 at 12:24 PM

It used to be in the days of Shell Shield cricket

  • combine the Dotties ( leeward and windward ) not strong enough as regional forces
  • jamaican cricket also weak - might combine with WI academy
  • TnT Guyana are the strongest
  • Bajan is moderate if the best players are chosen

we don’t need more than 4/5 of the strongest teams competing against each other - then select the best 15 after with 2nd eleven going on A team tour

@allan

We could start with preparing better pitches and having a home and away league format. The top 4 advancing to a "Super Cup".

Yes pitches are a given

and home and away but only among the 4/5 best teams

we don’t need

  • academy team
  • leeward and windwards
  • Jamaica

being at subpar strength it’s better to merge the weaker teams into 1 or 2 and play competitive cricket

appoint good coaches and technical staffers plus of course good pitches

  • Jamaica and Barbados pitches that take pace
  • Trinidad and Guyana pitches spin
  • combine island pitches for pace also

get a solid sponsor like Massey or Saigcor or the oil companies of Guyana

pay good prize monies for performances

Simple solution to a simple problem. Although I don’t buy that the Australian series pitches were bad. They suited or strengths which just also happened to be our weakness
