Why can’t our R4D get as strong as Aussies

Mon, Dec 22, '25 at 12:24 PM

It used to be in the days of Shell Shield cricket

  • combine the Dotties ( leeward and windward ) not strong enough as regional forces
  • jamaican cricket also weak - might combine with WI academy
  • TnT Guyana are the strongest
  • Bajan is moderate if the best players are chosen

we don’t need more than 4/5 of the strongest teams competing against each other - then select the best 15 after with 2nd eleven going on A team tour

We could start with preparing better pitches and having a home and away league format. The top 4 advancing to a "Super Cup".

Yes pitches are a given

and home and away but only among the 4/5 best teams

we don’t need

  • academy team
  • leeward and windwards
  • Jamaica

being at subpar strength it’s better to merge the weaker teams into 1 or 2 and play competitive cricket

appoint good coaches and technical staffers plus of course good pitches

  • Jamaica and Barbados pitches that take pace
  • Trinidad and Guyana pitches spin
  • combine island pitches for pace also

get a solid sponsor like Massey or Saigcor or the oil companies of Guyana

pay good prize monies for performances

Simple solution to a simple problem. Although I don’t buy that the Australian series pitches were bad. They suited or strengths which just also happened to be our weakness

Not sure how many teams India has playing FC and the structure, overshadowed by IPL. I do however see a 6 team format in Ozland. Yes it hurts when someone said look to the Ozzies, I have no issue with that.

Our best coaches in the region should be employed for each "National" FC teams. I do not care where they come from.

6 teams in Ozzie land

we probably have 3/4 at best teams not

  • jamaica
  • barbados
  • trinidad and tobago
  • guyana
  • leeward
  • windward
  • wi academy

we don’t have enough talent to field 7 strong teams in our r4d that’s 7*15 players ( no bro we don’t have so much good talent )

Plus the usual only after implementing this formation can we select batsmen

  • who must have a first class average over 45
  • 2 or more first class centuries under the new format

bowlers

  • with an average of 25 per wicket or under
  • at least 2 five wicket hauls
