Shallow & the CWI krew repeatedly say West Indies have lost for 30 years and you can’t blame Sammy for WI losses now.
Some on this message board strongly advocate that message, essentially absolving Sammy of any responsibility for the test team performance &/or results.
So say that is the case (I don’t agree with that premise, but say I did agree), what about his decision making?
These are some of the decisions Sammy has OWNED since being made head coach of the test team:
Brought primarily white ball players Shai Hope, Brandon King, & Keacy Carty into the test team
Brought back John Campbell after a lengthy ban from international cricket and hardly any matches at domestic level.
Dropped Kemar Roach & Joshua Da Silva from the test squad. In DaSilva’s case, he was dropped from any possible WI team he was eligible for, including squads assembled for training camps.
Appointed Roston Chase test team Captain, and Jomel Warrican vice captain
Sent debutant Kevlon Anderson to open the batting against Australia when Louis got injured. Anderson who has never previously opened the batting
Endorsed Ravi Rampaul as bowling coach
Repeatedly played cricketers (on debut) who joined the touring squad as replacements for injured players ahead of players who were in the original squad.
Thats just some of it.
How have those decisions worked out for Sammy and the West Indies team?
How can you “trust the process” when the decision making for the most part, is flawed?
