Chase and warrican out ( won’t solve much)

Sammy gone - a proper coach and revert to old selection process of 3 selectors

change our r4d competition - less teams on competitive pitches

who has the answers ?

@allan

The coach being selector can work, just need a coach qualified to be given such responsibility.

The captain however should be the one selecting his 11!?

@allan

Chase can't continue as captain, everyone bar the person who appointed him knows he shouldn't have been captain.

Warrican, still can probably compete for a place in the side.

The Academy should have remained part of the Regional 4-Day competition. Hold the competition in 2 or 3 territories and also create better pitches.

@WICFan

I defer I thing we only need 5 highly competitive teams

  • Barbados
  • TnT
  • Guyana
  • Jamaica + academy
  • + combine islands

maybe 5 teams the most - playing home and away on competitive pitches

batters with regional average from this format over 40+

bowlers with 25 average or less being selected earmarked for selection

ATeam or 2nd eleven going on tour of South Africa India and Sri Lanka

I like your points and would add that the A team schedule needs a major upgrade. End the regional 4-day competition earlier and get the best players into more Headley-Weekes type cricket, that will see the talent tested more frequently rather than flat track bullying of sub-standard opponents or spinners running through batting orders due to a lack of experience.

The gap between the regional level and international cricket in the test arena is vast - yet it need not remain such a chasm, there are ways to fix it. Sponsorship needs consideration and improvement, along with the ground work as mentioned above - better pitches = better cricket = better players.

@allan

My recommendation is with current sponsor levels

  • more competitive cricket among less teams
  • better pitches and coaches

the cream will rise to the top

Maybe learning why dasilva was not selected is one factor to help understand how to proceed

@jacksparrow

True - he should have played and been the vc

but one man wouldn’t have made much difference I believe

@allan

I can tell you the West Indies will not get any buy-in from sponsors if the product remains substandard!
