R4D to be played in Antigua alone?

Will most likely be a shortened season as well?

Looks like the end is near...

- a joke for a List A tournament

- Cancelled the regional U17 tournament

- Most likely they will cancel the emerging league as well.

Now the FC matches will be played in Antigua alone... less teams and matches.

Well done CWI...

de flattest pitch in the WI. Sure that solves all of problems. Yuh can’t make this up yes

According to them its to cut cost... things rough at CWI. But somehow de big boys still flying around firstclass in all expenses paid trips to where ever WI playing...

Here is the link... based on what Reds is saying it looks like they are planning to charge a fee to enter the ground as well... now ah feeling bad for the the lone pensioner and dog that usually turns up to these matches 😁

It will be a lost period for the players in the region, the CWI should find a way to earn money out of cricket, like creating an investment account. WI cricket will not improve with the way recent things are going.

Also they dont need to be having all those high paying joba if they arent proflducing money from cricket on the field. I atill feel that their lack of getting proper sponsorship is what's killing them. If cricket here in πŸ‡°πŸ‡³ can get sponsorship why cant they? I think instead of wanting for eg 20k from a single sponsor why not take 5k from four sponsors or 1k from 20 sponsors. You still end up with the same 20k at the end. I dont think they are being innovative enough. We will see thiugh. Cause if they host it in one place which seems to be ans they still shorten it they are rrally failing with the proper running of cricket in the region.

my god.............................the minute west indians are able to wrestle our patronage, our cricket from the hands of the board, we will be able to improve as a cricketing region. is not a matter of talent, or money.......its the common sense totally lacking at the worst international cricket board in the commonwealth. dais the reason we no longer have international cricket in a chokehold, dais the reason we're groveling for pittance. proof that begging for resources is a cop out is that india is by far the world's richest board, but they have declined badly in the test arena and seem rudderless under Gambhir. conversely, nz is a relatively poor board and they have been one of the most successful teams of the last decade. i think the only team they've lost at home to have been SA and Australia, and losing to australia is purely a mental block

Territories missing opportunities to get sponsorship on the front of their shirts.

Instead of having the territory name they should be trying to get businesses to sponsor them. Even if it is a meagre sum, they could invest that elsewhere.

Where was your rant when all of ODI were played in Titland , and where is your outrage to the WI scheduling both games of the Pakistan tour in Titeland.

Mon, Dec 29, '25 at 11:44 AM

@tc1

So I am guessing you're okay with this?

Mon, Dec 29, '25 at 11:51 AM

@natty_forever

I am not , but we have to be consistent about all perceived narrow views by the CWI.

Mon, Dec 29, '25 at 12:47 PM

@tc1

ODIs are not tests homes. having a four day tournament in one country with max two grounds is absolute madness

Considering the Academy played a lot of games in Antigua it makes that decision to exclude them more silly.

Could've included the Academy, played 3 rounds of fixtures in Antigua and then had a break and played the remaining 3 rounds in another territory.

I’m trying to understand the issue. Antigua has three grounds available- ARG, Sir Viv and Coolidge.

The Board is strapped for cash so playing in a single country where there is decent air access from all territories will cut down on inter island travel cost. Furthermore the Board being based in Antigua has access to apartments at Serendepity which cut down significantly on hotel costs.

If this is the way that ensures the tournament can be played then what is the griping about. Would you rather the tournament not be played at all?

The regional tournament should be shortened...but then, the best need to be drafted into a Headley-Weekes type schedule to filter out those who are but making up the numbers.

This will help sharpen the focus of those who want to make it.

More Headley-Weekes type schedules are needed, followed by more A team cricket. That is the only way to reduce the mediocrity and force the better players to step up.

The gap between the regional four day game and test cricket is wide...bridging it with these steps will go a long way toward helping the West Indies produce more test ready players.
