he announced his retirement bottom line end of story.....cannot now change his mind UNLESS he gives assurances that after the world cup he will be available for us an this was not just an exercise in him wanting to play on the biggest stage to raise his stock....over the years the biggest culprit of that was "Dre Russ" unavailable mostly through supposed injuries but injuries would miraculously clear up before the IPL or a world cup.....CWI must develop a backbone an tell them all yuh either IN or OUT but cannot cherry pick yuh tournaments!!

I agree! I see some likening this to traveling abroad for a better living but guess what in those cases you never come back and have zero ties to your former bosses! You do not have another boss at Home and if you did I am sure your other boss at Home will have some form of agreement and not have you show up when/where you want to for their work!

Nicky Poo and Hetmeyer stocks are falling as they both have had paltry returns at their respective franchises and badly need a big show at the World Cup at the home of the IPL. That is what this is all about.

Just one question for you.

Do Windies chances go up or down with Pooran and Hetty?

I suggest that we live up to the Hinglish poverb.

"Don't cut of your nose off to spite your face".

We West Indians, dare I say 'Blacks specially', are very good at that,

Vindictive, wicked, spiteful, jealous, and most of all, not appreciative of other's greatness.

@TanteMerle

@TanteMerle

Of course our chances would go up but yuh gotta be principled cause de likes of Hetty an Pooran would only want to represent us on the biggest stage for their own ends NOT WINDIES....do you think teams like Hengland would subscribe to that??.....now a question for you ....so because we are inferior to the likes of Hengland, India etc we should accept less loyalty from our players an allow them to play wherever they feel to because we need them more than they need us huh??.... how about this proverb....a man that stands for anything stands for nothing!!

@CCW

With your reasoning, WI will always be a weak cricket team.

Try to employ rational thought, logic and common sense in your reasoning and you will see where your argument breaks down.

Sun, Jan 4, '26 at 5:33 PM

@CCW

Ask yourself what an England contracted player gets and what a CWI contracted player gets and youโ€™ll quickly find that your argument is silly!!!

Sammy was supposed to bridge the gap as a modern player trying to fix the bond between the board and the players but instead he just got power hungry and it became his way or the high way!!!

@WIfan26

you guys missing the point so let me clarify....i have no problem with the likes of Pooran making the decision he has for whatever reasons ...he announced his retirement an that's fine ...all I'm saying is you cannot unretire to the benefit of your profile/stock cause you want to perform on the biggest stage UNLESS you give assurances to CWI that you will be available to them after the tournament for lesser series......what part of what I'm saying is not principled an doesn't make sense???

Sun, Jan 4, '26 at 7:39 PM

@Coach200

my reasoning is entirely based on principle....if yuh can't see that then I've nothing further to add!!

Sun, Jan 4, '26 at 9:34 PM

@CCW

I agree with you and see your point. Can't set a precedent where one can retire from the WI team cricket every year and want to return for WC tourneys only. That would also be unfair to those who are not IPL only obligated dont get a bigger paycheck and this is their opportunity to get one..

Sun, Jan 4, '26 at 11:48 PM

@CCW

Were you a WI fan when Clive Lloyd essentially took the entire WI team at the time to World Series Cricket and left WI cricket and the board scrambling to send a team to India?

Then ALL of the same Packer players came back, and the vast majority of the players who represented WI cricket in India were dropped,

If you were around at that time, where was your โ€œprincipleโ€ then?

West Indies became undisputed world champions because of those same Packer players who were referred to as rebels and mercenaries playing โ€œpajama cricketโ€ at the time.

I guess anyone celebrating WI dominance during that time abandoned their โ€œprinciplesโ€ and stood for nothing eh?

Hypocritical.

@imusic

The Packer revolution is not quite the same thing on many levels but i understand the sentiment based on principles....so i guess you ok with players not available for us unless it's a major tournament where they could use that platform to elevate themselves further which in effect would mean it's not about Windies it's all about them an as a by- product we should be eternally grateful to have their services ...an after the tournament they can retire again huh???

@Scar

On point bro!!!

@CCW

You dare to use the word 'principled' in the same sentence as West Indies or CWI? You need psychological help.
