It’s all about Sammy’s ego

The team he has selected for this T20 World Cup is more about him than anything else.

If Samson and Charles perform in any sort of capacity, peeps around the region will hail him as a genius.

If they lose, well….it was expected.

He really has nothing to lose and plenty to gain, reputation wise, if those 2 in particular perform even halfway decently.

He gives out a debut practically every match WI plays regardless of format.

His coaching style is essentially to throw stuff at the wall, any stuff no matter what quality or lack thereof it is, and see if anything sticks.

In reality, he’s no more than a con man.

Has always been. Snoop recently pointed something out to me. During the WC, every time we won, he’d hog the spotlight, when we lost, it was God’s plan.

Johnson Charles selection is pure 'I can do what I want nonsense' I was watching footage of our last tournament triumph 2012. Ramdin the conventional keeper was behind the stumps. I simply can't see why he couldn't give Jangoo the back up keeper's job.

He’s also no less than a con man!!!

That is an extreme statement, it takes a lot of personal work not to come to such conclusions and make such statements. This is a statement you cannot factually prove and it is an attempt to destroy a man's reputation. It is slander.

Well one man say he is a con man, another label him a racist for not selecting Josh. Slanderous comments. You guys continue to dig deeper and deeper in your hatred towards Sammy why? He did not select your homeboys Jangoo or Josh Dasilva.

Instead of telling those young men to go and work on their game you attack the Coach.

I see many calling for Samson. JC is there as a backup keeper and I doubt he will start.

Good to have guys like you with the goanades to call out the nonsense

Pot a call kettle...

It has nothing to do with Sammy,

it more have to do with CW I, board members ancestry, Home politics, fosters this hatred. When WI was just about cricket, we were, world champions, now due to our selfish agendas, we sow hatred and division into our cricket.

@Edrich

Agree, as I have no issue with Sammy as he did not appoint himself. It's the flip flopping of the Board. No "visible" development plan in place. What next for these U19s? All should be coming back to an Academy or a FC set up.

the division was there when we were world champions. proof is the board not appointing dessie haynes, the most respected man in WI cricket (in the wake of the retirements of viv, gordon, dujon and maco) as skipper because they couldn't handle another alpha male, the removal of our first coach Rohan Kanhai on the verge of a world championship series in 1995 replaced by a coach from the same island as the unpopular skipper, the refusal to pick said Dessie Haynes for that 1995 World Championship series because he had pursued a contract in the now democratic and unsanctioned South Africa etc

When CWI was in its old iteration - WICB was massively insular and agenda driven and far more visionless and archaic then the current board. At that time the team was dominant and issues were ignored.

It was recently that the world caught on and surpassed our region. My son who is now an adult always knew WI to be struggling.

When people for tribal reasons shoot crap you should call them out or ignore.

Recall Chris Gayle a few WC ago? He was a "walking dead" yet we refused to drop him from selection. It costed us. The BIG question then is, how many person blamed thr coach for him being persisted with.

That is not to defend JC's selection but, for all the noises anout Evin Lewis can we wide-eyed say that he without question deserved selection over Johhno?

More can be said on other issues raised but i'll leave it at that.

@InHindsight

Yuh had me until the Chris Gayle thing. Gayle was compensated by the board for the horrible mistreatment that two successive boards netted out to him, one of them again a group of Windward island misfits

Wed, Jan 28, '26 at 7:16 PM

I don't blame Sammy. I blame his CWI enablers. Sammy does not have the basic credentials to be a coach. He has no vision and no sense. Just like the fat cats at the CWI.
