You sure they didn't leave Africa as slaves and their designation switched to "indentured" halfway over the Atlantic when Slavery was abolished? I'd love to know more about this...

Freetown Collective’s Muhammed Muwakil meanwhile brought strong visual presence to his groovy 2026 hit, “Calypso”, performing against a backdrop of dancers and moko jumbies dressed in white.Muwakil spoke of nervous expectations ahead of his performance during a chat with the Sunday Express. After leaving the stage, he reflected on the moment.

“Yuh know, ah think it have something to be said about going through the rigours of coming up and performing and coming to terms with stage fright and audiences, so when you get to certain stages, yuh ready for that, yuh know,” Muwakil said.“I just felt like I was ready, I felt like this is the time. I came, I did what I had to do. It felt great, real, real good.”

The competition was expected to continue late into last night, with results of the finalists to follow.

They all will face defending monarch Helon Francis next Sunday on Dimanche Gras night, at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain.
