QPCC 1 lose first innings battle to PowerGen

Joshua Da Silva batted to the end for a century. But not even that was enough to prevent PowerGen Penal Sports grabbing first innings points as the third round in the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board’s National League Premiership One two-day competition concluded yesterday.

In a round where no team managed an outright victory, early front-runners Queen’s Park Cricket Club (QPCC 1) were pegged back by PowerGen, who won a day-long battle for first innings points at their ground in Syne Village, Penal.That was despite the concerted effort of Da Silva, who struck the only ton of the weekend, and his teammate Jyd Goolie.

Summarised scores:

if the above is accurate, it means that 2 out of 11 players amassed 189 runs in a total 244.

So at the very most, assuming there are no extras, the other 9 batters accumulated a grand total of 55 runs.

Thats pretty pathetic.

Good to see WI players Goolie and Kevin Sinclair among the runs.

Yes, an accurate summation.

Central Sports Yorkshire  is the team to watch closely, they want to dethrone QPCC

Sunil Narine 4/68

Is that the former WI player? Asking because "Sunil" and "Narine" are common names in T&T

Narine gone back to white ball cricket?

@Halliwell

You mean red ball - like the man giving back to the community

That reminds me of the 80s and early 90s when Narine Bidhesi was a legend in local cricket and many mothers named their sons after him. He, Rajindra Dhanraj and Lara were in that golden generation.

Yes , he plays for QPCC every opportunity he gets , unless there is a windball tourney.

The latter his first love.

Am happy to see some familiar names making some runs and taking wickets. I wish that players like Keemo Paul could turn out for one of these clubs and find his way back to regional cricket. If Guyana has an embarassment of riches in cricket, TT can take the surplus off them.
