This proves a big point inT20s

England captain Harry Brook said they were expecting dew in the second innings while batting and also they thought they batted too tentatively in their chase.

For me what this reveals, is that if the team has the capabilities to play say, spin in this case, being too tentative is definitely counterproductive against any well planned spin unit WI in this instance.

England got it definitely wrong. They were waiting for the dew to settle in to launch but it never came.

And so the buzz continues for WI with a definite morale booster

@InHindsight

Have no clue what you said, until the last paragraph. 😂

@natty_forever

That was a quick post just as I was starting my day. I never reread.

I did a bit of editing. Hope it reads better now

they thought, like me admittedly, that dew would nullify the target as it did in 2016. England chased 229 at Wankhede in that WC against sa. but the ground staff applied a spray to the outfield which worked quite well in srying out the surface

England had a vivid memory of the series in the WI which the dew factor made into a real farce with any team batting second winning automatically. It is good that this has been neutralised so that teams play on a more level (dry?) playing field.

I remember Guyana trying this...and some called it cheating

ReDEWce (there are other brands as well) is a universally used and permitted anti-dew agent applied to outfields in T20 leagues around the world - where dew is / has been a factor in deciding games.

It was used at the CPL last year during the playoffs.

I am surprised that England would not have been aware (or made aware) of it being used at the WC. They clearly weren't if that is being offered as an "excuse"

I say they should STFU and take their licks....
