Sammy was right

Sammy got the squad selection right despite all the noises.

I say this in light of this just concluded game against Nepal.

After I saw both King and Hope struggle with form S/R at the top.

Can you imagine if we had picked Jangoo as the backup opener/keeper?

If Ackeem hadn't been "injured" he would have made it ahead of Sampson and slot in as the backup opener orvin the middle against spin.

Btw Ackeem does keep in domestic cricket.

Now this unit has given all critics'falfwet', in St Lucian parlance.

Jus sayin

@InHindsight

Is Ackeem injured or did he have a serious case of food poisoning and had to undergo surgery?

I am not comfortable with the openers vs the better teams we will need to do better in the PP like 70/ 1 or 2. Perhaps an out of the box move like Motie opening to jumpstart the innings with King?

Also if Ackeem could keep then he should have replaced JC. Springer ahead of Sampson but Sammy selected Sampson as he has that X Factor.

Correct.

@VOR

This is eyebrow raising for Sampson 's selection but it is not without remit though the reasons Sammy gave for his inclusion

Seems like he recovering well from his surgery after the food poisoning in Abu Dhabi. Which injury are you referring to?

Sun, Feb 15, '26 at 12:28 PM

@voiceofreason

The problem is the ceo wanting Powell on the team occupying space. Springer should have been there instead of Powell.

Akeem was at the SLU, sports awards last night, were he and Julien Alfred, were awarded.

WI always recover after a slow start.

but get rattled when they lose early wickets. Openers, should preserve their wickets, during the power play. 36 ball’s, 20 2’s =40 runs, plus the occasional power hit.

@Edrich

Well glad to hear Ackeem is doing well i will be looking forward to seeing him in the R4D. I really think our aim is to get 60 with minimal loss at the end of the PP. I would like to see an outside the box approach by promoting Motie as we already have a lot of firepower down below. Two batsmen with 130 s/r and both orthodox hitters? Let one play down the order- Shai and send up the Pinch hitter. We are yet to be severely tested, but that time will come where we have to chase 200.

@voiceofreason

I concur, motie should bat before Powell, , he can handle spinners, better. Sheppard is ok, batting late,

In the dead rubber match, Joseph,hetty, and holder, should be rested.

Sun, Feb 15, '26 at 2:13 PM

@Edrich

I disagree ....we're not good enough to be resting players....did you see how Shamar an Holder bowled today??....an I'm not sure the groove Hety is in he would want to be rested!

Sun, Feb 15, '26 at 5:45 PM

@positiveg

Ackeem has been fully recovered from before the WC started

Sun, Feb 15, '26 at 5:51 PM

@CCW

Agree, not resting of players.

It may sound ironic but in the Italy game I'd bring in Seales for Joseph to give him playing time in case he's needed.

Such high hopes and praises for just beating Nepal convincingly.

Our standards have really fallen.

@Shrex

Look who come out from far-away land?

I guess you missed the part where we beat England too.
