Fri, Feb 20, '26 at 4:28 PM

Seventeen cricket teams from across the parish of St Catherine have embarked on a competitive journey in the premier parish-level T20 tournament, proudly sponsored for 25 years by Jamaica Energy Partners.

The competition is being managed by the St Catherine Cricket Association, under the leadership of Milholland Barker.

Matches commenced on Sunday, 1 February 2026, moments after the opening ceremony at WINDALCO Port Esquivel Sports Club near Old Harbour.

Beyond the thrill of competition, the tournament offers significant incentives. The champions will claim a prize of $120,000, the runners-up will receive $60,000, and the third-place team will be awarded $25,000.

Among the contenders, Bridgeport Super Sixers stand out as a formidable force, aiming to secure their fifth consecutive title.

This is the type of grassroots cricket initiative that every parish in Jamaica should implement, to get the youngsters excited and motivated to play the sports of cricket. Badly needed strategy to reverse the lack of interest in cricket by many young Jamaicans.

If there are 17 participating cricket teams from one parish, I guess it demonstrates that cricket is not entirely forgotten in Jamaica.
