Does Sammy have the courage of his conviction?

Sat, Feb 28, '26 at 5:29 PM

Last match against South Africa, he dropped Akeal Hosein and brought in Roston Chase for “strategic” purposes due to the number of left handers South Africa has in their batting lineup.

India has Abishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma and Shivam Dube in their first 6/7 batters (depending on where Hardik comes into bat). They are all left hand batters.

If Sammy truly believes in his “strategy”, there should be no change to the bowling line up. Hosein would continue to sit.

Different ground yes……but conditions are expected to be similar to what WI experienced in Ahmedabad vs SA

Sammy dropping of Hosein for the millionth time had more to do with his performance agains RSA just before the WC. Hosein took 3 wickets in 3 matches at an econ of near 11.

All WC Sammy, Hope and the management have been making changes based on strategic requirements. This is nothing new. Nothing to do about form but about strategy.

Now think: where is Hosein best utilized and performing?

Answer: As the opening bowler in the power play, he is most effective in such a position.

Now look at how and where he was utilized by Chief Selecta.

Your above suggestion now shows and lacks evidence for your comment.

We will know tonorrow if he really has a strategy or just a flip flopper ....

@sgtdjones

So he is one-dimensional.

@Kay

Again all Worldcup Sammy has been switching players in to combat the strengths of the opposition. 5--1 is proof the strategies have worked. we did not lose against RSA because of the omission of Hosein but because of the failure of our top order to post a competitive score.

C’mon bro I know you’re not that stupid!!!

It’s Kolkota, Eden Gardens home of the Batty… I mean Knight Riders and a “NIGHT” game!!! Forde will miss out as he’s never going to get swing in the night and Akeal comes in!!!

The only real mitigating factor is if they use the dew spray or not in which the toss becomes very important!!!

@voiceofreason

Give us more stats.

A. How does Hosein's RSA tour stats compare to the rest of the team's

B. Where does 3@11 over 3 T20I's fall in comparison to the norm?Stats, Lies n Damned Lies?

So they are one-dimensional. They can neither bat nor bowl.

Look and see the stats; it tells what a bowler or batsman prefers.
