@voiceofreason

Our 3 spinners are our best/more economical bowlers. They should have bowled more overs unless they were being slaughtered.

Forde was economical and could have bowled one more over.

Shepherd needs to always bat

Hope batted too long

@voiceofreason

Totally agree VOR, I was saying that 220 would have been par on this pitch. We would have won with that type of score. Anyway, I didn't expect us to make it out of the Super 8s, we still have a long way to go. We need to work on running between the wickets more often and we need a solid power hitter to open with Hope.

i am happy with our showing here though, I think our players played their hearts out, we put up some decent scores, our bowling was good

however we must continue our improvement. I am gutted at this loss strangely I am remembering 1983

@Baje

Yes he could have bowled out the spinners and Forde who were economical. Just think we should have scored 220.

@voiceofreason

I believe India would have chased that 220 down to put this game beyond India would need 250

@voiceofreason

Quit whining; Hety was out.

That said, this is a very impressive WI team. Scared me $hitless I can tell you that much.

Credit to them and to their coach. Probably the best WI white ball team I have seen in a long time.

Now fix your bowling!

@Windiesfan78

we need a solid power hitter to open with Hope.

We have that. They weren’t selected.

@Baje

The only spinner who was economical was Chase and you never know what the next over would have brought

It is very tough to defend totals at Eden Gardens. India gifted wickets by trying to over hit. At Eden gardens good timers will benefit a lot. Only INdian who did not try to over hit was Samson. He scored runs. All the others from india played like idiots throwing kitchen sink made an easy chase into a very tough chase.

Come on VOR

…exceeded what expectations?

we were expected to lose to SA and IND and not progress to semis

we were hoping for some good fortune to progress to semis…we had the runs but skipper forget to put point on the boundary when man bowling outside off…I don’t know if point inside the circle was a viable catching position

we were expecting that Sheppy and Holder wouldnt be able to bowl tight overs

the bright sparks are Hetty and Holder batting; Rovman still a force; Sheppy is a batting batter, all the good work Motie do early was undone later.

one thing for sure, Hosein and Motie is no Badree and Narine.

@Halliwell

We were also expected to beat Scotland, Nepal, Italy, and Zimbabwe.

The only team that we played we were not expected to beat is England.

We played 7 matches this World Cup.

We were expected to win 4 of them. We won 5. That one match in the group stage is where we exceeded expectations.

Sun, Mar 1, '26 at 2:35 PM

@Halliwell

Clearly you missed the point that we not only went 5-0 in our first games but we won them comprehensively this includes games against an English team that is now in the Semis! The fact that after topping our group in comprehensive fashion we ended up with 3 other group winners was even more the ridiculous. If we were a rightful group with Sri Lanka or Pakistan or New Zealand we would have made the semis.

The team more than exceeded its expectations and we have a nice core to build on for the next WC.

Sun, Mar 1, '26 at 2:36 PM

@imusic

Man quit with the nonsense . They were many even on this board that had Nepal beating us. We won all 5 games comprehensively and went 5-2 on the WC. Yes we exceeded expectations.

Sun, Mar 1, '26 at 2:50 PM

@voiceofreason

Exceeded YOUR expectations. Sure

Sun, Mar 1, '26 at 3:03 PM

@imusic

We were also expected to beat Scotland, Nepal, Italy, and Zimbabwe.

Maybe this was your expectation, certainly not of many West Indians, most felt we would have lost to even Italy. Given the manner in which Zimbabwe disposed of Australia and Sri Lanka, many felt they would also defeated us
