India too had a shaky start – an unconvincing win over USA was followed by wins across other teams in the group stage. But they then slipped to a bad defeat against South Africa in the first match of the Super-8, but good wins against Zimbabwe and West Indies ensured that at least one Asian nation managed to make it to the semis.

Route to the semis - England started shakily – a last gasp win over Nepal, a loss to West Indies and followed by scratchy wins over Scotland and Italy. But their fortunes changed as they moved from India to Sri Lanka for the Super Eights. Wins over Sri Lanka, Pakistan and New Zealand ensured that they became the first team to book a ticket to the semi-finals.

Jofra Archer versus Indian openers: No other England bowler has taken more than 8 wickets during the batting powerplay period in this World Cup. He'll be up against an Indian opening pair which averages a measly 15.86 after 7 innings. A good start is key in big games and this contest could determine which team lands the first punch

England have won the toss and have opted to field

Brook: We're going to have a bowl. Looks like a good wicket, hopefully we can get off to a good start with the ball. They've obviously got a lot more experience on this ground than us. T20 cricket is such a fickle game, you never know what's going to happen. Hopefully we can keep them quiet. Overton comes in for Rehan.
Surya: We were looking to bat first. Semifinal, big game, and there's wind around too. Don't think there will be much dew. Looks a good one (the pitch). The best one. Credit to all the curators and groundsmen. Same team.

0.2

Jofra Archer to Sanju Samson, no run, beaten! Once again, Samson backs away. The ball seams back in a shade from a length.

0.4

Jofra Archer to Sanju Samson, SIX, uses the bowler's pace and angle to his advantage does Sanju Samson. Short again, the line is just outside leg and Samson helps it on its way to the fine leg fence with a pull shot

0.3

Jofra Archer to Sanju Samson, FOUR, Samson is underway with a boundary. Jofra Archer pulls his length back, the line is once again outside off, Samson stands tall to slam it over mid-on. Not quite off the middle of the bat but he's got enough wood on it
