Who would or should be back in 2028?

Mon, Mar 9, '26 at 9:08 PM

With 9 players all in their 30s will some be forced out by emerging talent. T20 demands powerhitters, world class batters, economical and wickettaking bowlers at international level.

First to say goodbye would be

1.Johnson Charles 37......I dont expect him to be back at 39 unless he hits a big purple patch,

Who else?

@analyst-kid

Johnson Charles is done in WI colors, that is a surety. His form has been off even for SLK in the CPL. He was only selected as he was the best backup keeper option.

These other players are on thin ice:

Chase- Surely we can find a more impactful batsman who can bowl some off-spin. Chase is a great trier I give him that.

Akeal Hosein- Good in the PP, and terrible outside it. We need wicket-taking options PP and out, and I expect more spinners to come forward in due course. Hosein will have to build on his repertoire.

Brandon King- Other opening options will come to the fore. King is on borrowed time.

Scammy should be the first on the cut list.

Charles---enough said.

I do not expect King to be there as his batting technique has regressed,

unless he returns to the nets and do some great work.

King and Chase loss their batting techniques, by

Chase playing away from his pads, opening up front leg,

and King moving around the wicket like he's silly.

I suspect that Holder will retire before then.

I also suspect that Hetty will be cappo by then.

This squad was missing some people due to injuries.

Assuming all are fit,

Aljo will be there.

Auguste will be there

Hosein will be there. He was utilized poorly by Scammy
