@Jumpstart

I agree. We do need something to feel good about ourselves and fill that empty void. How many years has it been since? Don’t worry we are on the same page here.ο»ΏπŸ˜€ο»Ώ

Diving deep into statistics is all very well and good but the degree of concentrated focus can sometimes lead to misleading opinions.

Lara is the greatest bar Bradman. To exclude Richards from the top ten is utter folly. Very questionable to exclude Headley.

Purely on stats, Weekes, Walcott, Headley, Sobers, Lara and Shiv are all above Viv on the list of WI batsmen. But stats do not tell the whole story. I would still rate Lara above Viv because nws the swagger and dominance, Lara had the power of concentration, which is the backbone of batting, that far exceeded Viv's while, unlike Shiv for example, he was able to score quickly and so keep the interest of the spectators.

That is strictly your opinion. Baichan then clearly had the "backbone of batting" mastered. Some will argue that "swagger and dominance" is a necessary ingredient especially when what happens at the wicket is greatly influenced beyond the boundary.

If we are going to passively bow to Bradman as the greatest, then George Headley MUST be listed when the top 3 batsmen of all time is being recognized.

how people still accept the bradman nonsense is confusing and genuinely worrisome to me

this is the most insipid thing i've read on this site. Do Sri Lankans feel ashamed about using the memory of a 3000 year old civilization to build up their self esteem despite the country being in the IMF and coming only recently out of a debilitating 27 year civil war.....do malians feel ashamed about the legacy of timbuktu despite that they live in a failed state.....i didn't realize history becomes irrelevant once time passes. a perfect example of the damage colonialism did to the psyche of our people
