GOOLIE BLASTS MARCHIN

Red Force batter puts QPCC 1 in charge

Trinidad and Tobago Red Force batter Jyd Goolie continued his rich vein of form ahead of the upcoming West Indies Four-Day Championship with a superb unbeaten century to put Queen’s Park Cricket Club in a commanding position against Bess Motors Marchin Patriots in their pivotal Premiership Division One clash at the Queen’s Park Oval yesterday.

The stylish left-hander carried his bat for a brilliant 165 not out as the Parkites rallied from a poor start to post 324 in their first innings before seeing Marchin reach 32 without loss at stumps. The knock marked Goolie’s second century of the season and came at an important time for the title-chasing QPCC 1, who had a disastrous start to their innings.

The hosts lost Tion Webster off the first ball of the match, when he was caught by Evin Lewis off the bowling of pacer Teshawn Castro. Rivaldo Ramlogan struck soon after to trap Kyle Ramdoo lbw without scoring and when Amir Jangoo miscued a pull that flew to Kirstan Kallicharan at third slip for 11, QPCC 1 had slipped to a precarious 28 for three inside the first hour.
