CWI ..4 day revamped format

THE upcoming regional four-day championship will feature a revamped format, with Trinidad and Tobago Red Force facing the Leeward Islands Hurricanes at Coolidge Cricket Ground, Sir Vivian Richards Stadium and Antigua Recreation Ground (ARG), in three first-round matches in Antigua.

Red Force head coach Rayad Emrit explained that the tournament will be played in three preliminary match-ups, with each team contesting three matches against the same opponent. The three teams with the most points accumulated will then advance to the next stage.The Red Force will face the Hurricanes at Coolidge from April 12 before moving to Sir Vivian Richards Stadium from April 19. The series concludes at the historic ARG from April 26.

Meanwhile, the Jamaica Scorpions will meet Barbados Pride in Jamaica and Windward Islands Volcanoes take on Guyana Harpy Eagles also in Antigua. “Whoever ends up with the most points after those three games, the top three teams go on to the next round,” Emrit said.Among the three group winners, the team with the highest points will advance directly to the final. The second- and third-placed teams will then contest a playoff in Antigua, with the winner moving on to challenge the top-ranked side for the championship.
