If the CWI had done a proper situation analysis they would have assessed that a Batting Consultant should have received immediacy status. Bowling is one of our weak links but today's batting is atrocious.and in need of urgent attention.
Most of our women cricketers do not possess the basic batting skills to compete against the top countries.
They allow their bottom hand to take over every stroke; there is a dearth of skillset to allow for rotation of strike; they lack game awareness; ther fitness levels are sadly lacking and this places undue pressure on our only cricketer with the tools to play the game at the highest level to deliver consistently. We are destroying Hayley Mathews in the process.
Case in point, yesterday, the team was in trouble with 5 wickets down for spit but a more than adequate batter Chinelle Henry was at the crease. All what was needed was the tail to shut one end down and rotate strike as much as possible. What followed was the most assinine display of cricket i have ever seen...nuff said.
You would think our men (they use a greater portion of resources) would fare better. I don't have to tell you that we have been in the doldrums for close to 3 and a half decades.
Any administrator with a single brain molecule would have built from the ground up. Haven't we established weaknesses in our system to put us in a position to take corrective action.
This is a serious indictment on the powers that be..
What is wrong in identifying 60 of the regions young players (female and male) and provide them with rigorous training in a well staffed cricket academy. Successful companies can be approached to sponsor a year long period of training.
But no, this is not a priority for CWI head honchos. They are more interested in maintaining their positions on boards and rule over our cricket despite Rome having been gutted.
CWI finances have gone to the dogs but no one is held accountable and the prospects for recovery look bleak.
For chrissakes, if you cannot achieve your strategic objectives get the hell out of the organisation. 35 years and counting; things have hit rock bottom years ago and yet those responsible are busy protecting their tuff and playing dollhouse
We like it so.
