Radar spots migrant boat, babies and cow aboard


Thirteen Venezuelan nationals, including two babies, were intercepted by the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard off the Erin coast early Friday morning.According to police, the group was aboard a 28-foot white pirogue with no name when it was intercepted around 1 am after the Coast Guard Mother Ship Vessel received information from the Radar Centre.


The vessel was intercepted near a fishing area off Erin.Police said the pirogue was carrying eight men, three women and two male babies aged one year and two months.Also found aboard the vessel were a black cow, quantities of cheese, alcohol and sausage.Among those intercepted were teenagers and adults ranging in age from 18 to 41.All 13 are currently being temporarily housed at the Coast Guard Base in Cedros as investigations continue.
