RIP Ernie

One of our truly greats in the music business. First time I saw Ernie was as a kid about 1965 on a Sunday evening watching JIS tv. They presented a band named The Smithereens comprised of Ernie, his siblings and maybe others. It so happened that someone who went to York Castle was watching with me and he told me that he went to York Castle with Ernie. He told me that Ernie used to take his guitar to work and play for his boss at lunch time.

Ernie made some great songs. Ride on Sammy, One Dream, Pitta Patta. Duppy or Gunman, I can't take it and on and on. But Ernie made the greatest reggae song ever, " REBEL MUSIC". This is one of my all-time favorites.

And on top of everything Ernie won World Song competition in Japan with "Life Is Just for Living". Remember the Red Stripe commercial, it was based on this song
