HOPE ALL ARE OK

I believe many of the region’s cricketers are in Antigua for the finals and WI camp.

Magnitude 6.0 earthquake

Affected countries: British Virgin Islands, Dominica, Saint Martin, Sint Maarten, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Montserrat, Puerto Rico, Saint Kitts and Nevis, U.S. Virgin Islands, Venezuela, Caribbean Netherlands, Saint Barthélemy, Antigua and Barbuda, and Anguilla

84 km from Antigua and Barbuda · 7:50 a.m

Never heard of “Caribbean Netherlands” before. Wonder if they referring to ABC islands……Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao?

I had to check the map for location of Dominica, I never realized it was that close to the Leeward. I always considered it in the Windwards, but it looks equidistant to both.

That is a big earthquake, especially for that side of the Caribbean.

@Jumpstart

happening more often

Since 2016, there have now been four magnitude 6.0 or higher earthquakes to rattle the Lesser Antilles, and 30 since 1900.

The record is a magnitude 7.5 quake in October 1974.

@tc1

i think that Dominica may have been classified among the Leewards at one time.

Dominica is geographically part of the Leeward Islands. In fact, it was one of the founding members of the Leeward Islands Cricket Association. Then, the British decided to make Dominica part of the Windward Islands. I guess it is similar to Trump deciding the Gulf Of Mexico is the Gulf Of America.
