T&T murder toll..138 : last year 148

A 26-year-old man was fatally shot in Morvant on Sunday night.

He has been identified as Shirvan Aslop.According to police reports, at about 11 p.m., people near Morvant Junction heard a series of gunshots and took cover.When the shooting ended, Aslop was found lying on the ground at the corner of Second Caledonia Road and the Eastern Main Road— near the NP QuickShoppe.

The police and paramedics were notified, however, Aslop was pronounced dead on the scene.

Crime scene investigators recovered over 30 spent shells on the scene.While police do not have an official motive for the killing, they suspect it was gang-related.

This incident has pushed the murder toll up to 138.

The comparative for the same period was 148.
