mali all but say barbados cricket in crisis...nikhil say it aint so. anybody has an opinion if they heard that convo which took place close to the end of GT's innings
Mali Richards vs Nikhil on Barbados cricket
@Jumpstart
Didn't hear it. But I believe Barbados, Jamaica, TT, Leewards, Windwards, Guyana -- I believe West Indies cricket in crisis.
I listened to them and believe Nihkil is a little young
The Mason show last evening point out the bowlers in Barbados. Anyone who watch the pride understands we donβt have fast bowlers on the Island
Nihkil, kept on speaking on youngsters just need time to develop
i can't speak for the other territories but i guess the same issues effect the entire west indies
but the fitness standards don't seem to be there alot of barbadian club cricketers are overweight no wonder a young guy like zach carter looks like he does .including one of the coaches of the current barbados side ryan hinds i mean how can you be a coach and that size and he is not even as old as vasbert drakes or ottis gibson and they don't look like that .
@velo
i agree with you. Fitness is a problem generally in the region. We do have some very, very fit players though: seales, Shamar, kemo, mootie, Phillips,
@openning
Nihkil has potential but his licky licky approach to the Bajan cricket establishment will hinder his development.
The OLD SCHOOL will not let go. Even Vasbert drakes said they have to move on from the old guard. Tried his best to be diplomatic about the selection process.

There is young talent there but they need exposure. Van Lange from Guyana was just on the U19 West Indies Youth team. Yet no member of the Barbados Youth team is anywhere in sight of making a Bajan senior team until they are in their mid 20s.
@Chrissy
Dont think you are being fair to Nikhil. He is just young. Mali's comment about Barbados cricket in crisis was made in the context of previous high standards set by the nation. From the time Nikhil was born those days had passed. It would not be shocking to him that our best bowlers were the spinners. It WAS shocking to me.
@Logic
Best we had to offer, Brooks, Wickham and Springher.
The veterans were no shows. Time to rebuild.
Friendly selectors should be replaced like the
veterans. Listening to Drakes after it seems like
he didn't have a hand in team selection.

maybe if barbados had just produced very good players along the lines of sarwan, larry gomes, vvs laxman, makhaya ntini etc. bajan players at one point were the absolute peak of cricketing excellence. you will not get a better opening batsman than Gordon Greenidge, and even his closest contenders in graeme smith, matthew hayden and justin langer will readily admit that. cricket has not produced a better fast bowler than malcolm marshall, and even his closes rival in terms of skill, Wasim Akram admits that. to go from having a cricketing culture, which could legitimately demand at least half of a greatest cricketing XI, to RTN, ashley nurse, a batsman who cannot play the short ball to literally save his life, patterson thompson etc, is a demise of enormous proportions. That's like Nauru being literally the richest country in the world in the 1970s to being one of the world's poorest. you didn't have to see how good those legends were to know their greatness. their feats have ensured immortality. nikhil mut know at the back of his mind that from malcolm marshall, who averages under 20(and not in bumrah's time where wickets come very cheaply because of shredded red ball techniques) to Tino best is a massive, massive drop.
