Tale of two wicket-keepers.
@Cricket_101
Guyanese and all accepting that the Guyanese is no good
Seales was apparently right!
@natty_forever
"Tevin Imlach, who will be 30 on 30 November 2026, is much worse off. 6 Tests, 169 runs, avg., 15.36, highest score 35 v Pakistan, in Multan; 2025. 40 First Class Games, 2090 runs, avg. 32.65, Highest score 136 N.O., v Jamaica Scorpions; 2023. No Test 100s; no Test 50s!
Those batting stats are so poor; tail-ender numbers poor; that even if Tevin Imlach was Spiderman as a wicket-keeper, which he certainly is not, he should not be playing for WI with those dastardly poor batting stats. Nowhere in the cricket world are those standards acceptable. Tevin Imlach must have some “God-Father” somewhere in Caribbean cricket!"
I think he was very clear
@natty_forever
Suh who he prefers?
Based on his narrative, one can inferred he favors Josh...
@pariaman
I think Josh would be the right choice,,,
Croft is pragmatic much like me... Very fair with my critiques.
@sudden
Tarnish Da Silva cannot bat
Who is currently better than him in the WK position, Including FC Avg. Not a hundred yrs ago.😀
@sudden
Tarnish Da Silva cannot bat
However, his chirpiness (in front or behind the wicket) reminds us of the Yardie Legend, Reinford "Pinny" Pinnock. I'll watch his antics any day.
Croft makes it look like there are alternative options at the w/keeping position
Imlach is very good at w/keeping but his batting has not come around yet, Da Silva is an ordinary w/keeper who is inconsistent as a batter at the Test level. There are few things more demoralizing than a w/keeper who makes mistakes, therefore the better bet is to play the better keeper.Hamilton might be the player who can gave more consistency at keeping and batting and he can score quickly which helps when batting with the lower order batters.
I am still bemused by the comments that Silva cannot keep. What is the basis of this conclusion? How many byes and dropped chances in his test career? What other metric is keeping judged by? Didnt he equal the record for dismissals at one stage? As for batting, at 20 something test average beats a 15 test average every day of the week, not to mention the current form of both players. If one were to argue that Hamilton should be given a chance, I would listen carefully
