If your best batsman bats at number 3...

Thu, Jun 4, '26 at 6:26 AM

...then West Indies batsmen must be real shit 'cause Keacy Carty is real shit.

Every time this number 3 batsman comes to the crease he slows down the run rate and kills the mometum of the team.

This cannot be coincidence...de man cannot bat.

He has got to be the worst number 3 in international cricket.

Even Honey would smile when he comes to the crease.

😀

Btw, Sammy you cannot have two batsmen anchoring the innings...Carty and Hope and they bat at 3 & 4.

Sammy this strategy is real shit.

Your number 3 batsman should be " acut above the rest.

Keacy Carty is a cut below the rest.

Daren Sammy it's time to grant K Carty a favour. He does not belong.

....................

While at it, allyuh see who is our #7 batsman. A batsman batting at this spot must have plenty of batting ability...Motie throws his arms at the ball like he two foot planted in cement.

Where do we get these guys from?

We would be better served with youngsters who have the technical ability. At least they have the potential to get better.

This is a one man ODI side...dump de rest.

@Courtesy

The problem is he averages 41 albeit with a strike rate of 76 which is down right criminal!!!

WI haven’t been able to produce a proper number 3 batsman in any format for decades!!!

@WIfan26

I have berated Shai Hope ncessantly for having a SR of just over 70 in ODI cricket. Shai was able to work on this shortcoming.

Carty is no Shai Hope.

I have seen enough of Carty to exclude him from ODIs

For a Man who once called Hope the great hope of Test cricket. I take this opinion like a fart in the wind.

The reality is Carty has 4 hundreds in 47 ODIS with a respectable average of 41.52 on a team where 20+ is the norm. Agreed his S/R needs to be better but then again even as great as Shai hope was he never got his s/r up until after 100 ODIS , so give the youth a chance.

Yes he has limited talent and agreed he is no Shai Hope in terms of talent, but surely you and all should realize that there are players who over-achieve despite their limitations.

@voiceofreason

It seems to me that in the main, you have assessed Keacy Carty as subpar international standard and his only saving grace is that he plays for a weak ass West Indies team.

Have I read you correctly?

@Courtesy

41.52 average with 4 centuries/ in 47 matches is way above current West Indian standards. I believe those numbers put him up there with the average International # 3 except for his S/R.

@voiceofreason

...average International # 3 except for his S/R.

Would you agree that in the modern game this SR is disqualifiying at international level?
