no mention of it from the stiff upper lip Henglish....but if was elsewhere yuh wudda hear dem!!
Home of cricket rubbish pitch but....
@CCW
Two West Indians, Gay and Bethell, now at the crease to save Hingland blushes.
Celebrate!
@CCW
I've been watching on and off and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that wicket.
It's offering a bit of movement off the seam and the ball is swinging in the air. A typical Test Match pitch.
What you are seeing is piss poor batting technique from players who have been playing rubbish lickit T20 and now can't seem to handle a little bit of movement off the seam or a bit of swing in the air.
@SnoopDog
yeah you must have been watching on & off ...this is not a good cricket wicket that heavily favours the bowlers....in addition to the movement there has been uneven bounce...did you see Bethell's dismissal which is not the kinda thing you expect from a 2nd day pitch so to say there is "absolutely nothing" wrong with the wicket is absolutely ridiculous....."piss poor technique" from greats like Root & Williamson ....seriously!!!
@CCW
Dude. All the LBWs in this match so far were batters who were stuck in the crease - no feet movement whatsoever.
Did you see Stokes' dismissal. No feet movement.
What you're seeing on display are modern batters who can only bat on flat pitches or conditions with no swing.
They all get into the power hitting stance like they do in lickit cricket and want to tee off from that position with zero feet movement.
@SnoopDog
Always the excuse from modern cricketers. India used to prepare wickets just for spinners yet Everton Weekes didn't complain. In USA a snow storm don't cancel the Football game.
@SnoopDog
so i guess you maintaining there is absolutely nothing wrong with the pitch eh?? ....if so you must have been watching more OFF than on....topic of conversation during the tea break has been the pitch.....even a suggestion that the whole square needs digging up an relaying!
@CCW
The only ball in this whole Test Match so far which misbehaved was the one that got Bethel.
Apart from that ball, no other delivery was "unplayable" in this match?
What this pitch and conditions require are patience and technique (particularly in terms of footwork) - and not one batter from either team have shown either of those two qualities so far.
some of you guys are so accustomed to seeing bat dominate ball that if once in a while the bowlers get the upper hand, it's the pitch favouring them.
@Kay
Look at that dismissal of Latham.
No feet movement - just stands there stuck in the crease and throws the bat at a wide ball that did nothing off the seam.
@Kay
I know the difference between a good cricket wicket and one that heavily favours the bat or ball an there is no doubt on dis track a bowler can look better than he actually is because of the assistance he's getting.....have you actually been watching or you just chiming in for the sake of it??
@CCW
And we all know the difference between good batsmanship and crap batsmanship which plenty of the latter is on display here.
Most of these guys are so accustomed to throwing their bats without having to move their feet on flat lickit pitches that anything that offers a little seam or swing they look like rabbits.
Reminds me of the story of the 1974 U.S. Open golf tournament at Winged Foot Golf Club where the winning score was +7.
Almost every player complained that the course was set up too hard and set up to embarrass them. The chairman of the club then released a statement that they set the course up not to embarrass the best players in the world, but to identify them.
@SnoopDog
we have to agree to disagree...you don't think is "absolutely nothing wrong with wicket" i along with the pundits (including the Henglish) think it's a very difficult wicket loaded in favour of the bowlers ...bowlers like Robinson who has no pace will be found out on a better track!
