Just Curious

This first test in England at Lords was a batsman's nightmare.

On the surface it does not look that bad, but this uneven bounce and the weather making it conducive to swing bowling, I do not even think Richards would be able to bat on surface.

A total of 617 runs for 40 wickets across four innings for two test teams with two fifties, both by England in each of the inning.

63% of the wickets that fell were either Bowled or LBW.

Back to my query in the subject line.

If this had happened anywhere else other than Lords, lets say Antigua, would the topic for the commies be about the wicket and not the win?

Also just curious: How do you think our present Test team would fare?

Frankly I think that would have ended in two days or part thereof with the team losing by an innings.

@embsallie

Or, they could win as well. A bad pitch often brings both sides closer and make the game a lottery. So if batting is hit or miss then one or two lucky or exceptionally good innings could win you a game. Taking wickets is often not as much a problem on a bad wicket so both teams will get bowled out, often cheaply.

@embsallie

the match would have been abandoned if it was played in Antigua
