The lesser teams have wised up. They are recruiting wisely from their previous colonial masters while importantly using FIFA funding to develop their youth program, upgrading their facilities and employing coaches with international pedigree.

France vs Senegal today is very interesting. Senegal defeated the then defending champions, France in 2002 world cup.
Today there are 11 players who were born in France on Senegal's team.

You said it all. The “minnows” showing up the prima donna’s. I thought the Japan Netherlands game was the best so far.
not a smart strategy by Senegal to mark Mbappe so loosely. He made them pay
@dayne
I have seen this happen so many times. After a team scores, they let their guard down a little bit and in that split second the other team comes back and scores.

My friend Messi does not need anything to be a phenom. He already is and perhaps the greatest ever. I am here at the stadium in KC and it’s an amazing experience.
Congrats to
Jamaica’s Oshane Nation. Assistant Referee for the Austria vs Jordan match.
Have a good match sir!

I envy you that experience bro. I was privileged to experience similar in Germany 2006.

Wow. Words fail me. We were on the Plaza a few hours before the game and until the wee hours this morning after the game. Got back to my hotel two hours ago. Thousands of fans celebrating and it was not only about Argentina's win, the Algerian fans, and fans from the other nations that are also here in Kansas. It was about football and it was pure, clean fun.
The old adage - Cometh the hour, cometh the man. This was the past/present in Messi battling against the present/future in Mbappe. Mbappe and Haaland up the ante on Messi earlier yesterday. And a few days shy his 39th birthday, the brother rise to the challenge. Some will make the argument that it was against lowly Algeria. I beg to disagree. A hattrick is a hattrick is a hattrick even of its against a cricket team - more so in a World Cup.
I have heard similar arguments when a batsman excel. Well, he didn't do it against Lillee, Thomson, or Bedi, Venkat, or the four prone, etc. Well, I have never heard of a batsman making runs against a team he did not play. We often hear the comment that Lara's Antigua heroics was on small, feather bed. and my response has always been - bro, I couldn't bowl to save my life but lets go the park and you can bat and I will bowl. Let's see if you can make 400 runs. 😀
