West Indies won the toss and will bowl

Jason out with a niggle

Sat, Jun 13, '26 at 8:04 PM

West Indies have won the toss and have opted to field

Shai Hope: Yes, one change, Jason is out, and Shamar Springer is in. (On whether it's a forced or tactical change?) Slightly tactical. Jason has got a bit of a niggle. I just want to make sure he's looked after. Springer is quite similar in attributes, but definitely different in experience. Jason brings a lot to the team, anything he plays for. And Springer, he's got a lot of skills as well, so you want to see him execute those skills here today.

Kusal Mendis: There could be a bit of dew around later, but we're prepared for both the fast bowlers and the spinners. We have a quality spin attack, and I have a lot of confidence in my bowlers to deliver in any conditions. The spinners bowled well, although there are still areas we can improve on. The first couple of overs were better, but after that we struggled a little. Hopefully today we can focus on the basics and execute our plans better rather than trying to do too much. We've made two changes - Dunith Wellalage and Kamil Mishara come into the side.

The sky is overcast but the rain has stayed away.

Akeal Hosein to start off with the new ball.

0.1

Akeal Hosein to Pathum Nissanka, no run, almost chopped on! This one comes in with the arm from round the wicket. Swings in nicely to cramp Pathum Nissanka for room. He tries to chop it through covers but gets an inside edge past his stumps towards short fine

Matthew Forde to Kusal Mendis, wide, back of a length and width on offer, Mendis chases it with a half-hearted cut shot but misses. Another wide
