Most of modern music is assembly line junk. Overrated, talentless artists like Taylor Swift, Beyonce et al. But every so often, something special comes along. These days, that's getting rarer and rarer.

Olivia Dean is one artist I can safely say is blowing me away. Her lyrics and arrangements sound like the days of old, when music wasn't just plug-and-play junk. Her songwriting is reminiscent of the classic '70s singer-songwriter style.

I'm so disengaged from modern pop that the first time I heard her music was literally this month, and I was hooked. Take a listen if you haven't already.

I wondered why I connected so quickly, but after reading up on her, I found out her mother is Jamaican-Guyanese!

I'm sure I'm late to the game on this one, but say what.

She will be here for only two shows of her "The Art of Loving" live tour ....

Never heard of her, listened her and was impressed but not to the point of paying $500 to watch her live 15mls. from home next month.

Anyway, she’s OK, but I do agree with VIX regarding the other two aforementioned singers.

"Taylor Swift, Beyonce et al." are talentless? Overrated yes, but they do have some musical talent, whether it's playing an instrument or having decent song writing ability.

Must have meant Rhi Rhi since she is auto-tuned, doesn't write, can't dance and cannot play an instrument.
