Uncle Tom, sorry I meant KTom, no country wants to willingly be considered as a dumping ground for US immigration,

Why should Americans want to be a dumping ground for the rest of the world?

unless they are seeking significant compensation.

But this is my point - disregard what Americans think about these immigrants. If, as we're often told, immigrants tend to be smarter, better educated, more law abiding, more likely to be of working age, etc. than the populations they migrate to, shouldn't other countries be lining up to profit from America's mistake and snap up such a valuable commodity? The way you're talking anyone would think all these Haitians, Afghans, etc. are the unwelcome burden that the Trump administration claims them to be.

Jamaica, roll out the red carpet and the marching bands!

Already Jamaica receives over 4.5 million visitors each year

You understand the difference between a holiday and permanent residency don't you?

@KTom

Who should be the dumping ground you ask.

I say whomever sings the song.

I say whomever wear it as a badge of honor.

I say whomever flaunted it for the right color immigrants.

I say whomever hold these words up as a code of honor

I say whomever has the words below enshrined as part of their identity..

What say you KTom to Ms Liberty?

What say you KTom to the freedom flame?

Give me your tired,

Your poor,

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

The wretched refuse of your teeming shore,

Send these, the homeless, tempest-toss to me, ...

I wonder who has always rolled out the red carpet and marching band you so eloquently speak of but hey things and time changes eh. Oh my these tired and poor huddled masses got brown. Oh I understand you KTom. I really do.

@dayne

So technically, these deportees would be really illegal immigrants in Jamaica, correct?

I agree with Slipfeeler. If you are going to take the time to deport someone, send them back to where they originated. At the very least they would be in familiar surroundings, and not have to rebuild what is left of their lives in a foreign country that probably does not want them anyway.

@KTom

America has been a dumping ground for a very long time. In fact they literally begged European peasantry to dump themselves there.

"Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!".
