Or is 27 doubling down on his decision to make Warrican a non playing test vice captain hence Warrican gets selected by default?

@imusic

Motie is the best all-format spinner in the Caribbean.

A quick Google search also reveals:

"Test Matches: Gudakesh Motie is the premier spin bowler in the Test format. The Guyanese left-arm orthodox spinner has become a mainstay for the West Indies in red-ball cricket, often carrying the spin attack with his control and ability to extract bounce. [1, 2, 3, 4]"

@imusic

No, but I think Motie regressed a bit playing all formats over the last while when he maybe should have spent some time working on his game.

motie has regressed in control and effectiveness warrican was not even the best spinner in the barbados side this season bishop outbowled him and looked far more effective

Warrican better than Motie in test....

Motie was only selected for one ODI, his performance in that match was poor, the captain only trusted him with four overs, he did not make the final eleven in any T20 match. His bowling has fallen off, it looks like the Selector is willing to try Bishop as a Test bowler more than Motie.

I’m not surprised that Warrican got the nod over Motie. Warrican give the ball more flight and gets it above the eye line whereas Motie tends to bowl quicker and flatter.

Is Warrican a test bowler?

He could not make the team of any other test playing nation.

@Trex

It is ironic that Warrican is being picked and pushed as VC at the same time his form and little ability is falling off a cliff!. Fact he wasn't a captain or great leader prior to appointment makes this farce even more embarrassing.

THIS LINK MAY PROVIDE SOME INSIGHT

Some names in the CWI Financial & Commercial Strategy, and Cricket Strategy and Officiating committees might be familiar.

@WICFan

I think Motie regressed a bit playing all formats over the last

If a regressed Motie was able to be the highest wicket taker in the recent 4 day competition, WI cricket is in more trouble that you think!

@googley

Do you think Motie has improved then?

Wed, Jun 17, '26 at 4:27 PM

@googley

Motie failed vs TNT in the finals. Jayden Seales buss 50 pon him. Not good. Based on potential Motie is better but you cannot rely solely on potential, especially with Motie's experience

Di professor his him faada?

I believe Motie should have been in the Select XI squad.
