Pitch and conditions | Ian Smith and Dinesh Karthik:
Beautiful afternoon in London. 23 degrees. Not expected to get hotter than that. 72 meters down the ground, 61 and 62 meters square. Bit dry underneath (the pitch), even though there is a good covering of grass. Tells me there will be some help for the seamers upfront. Not too much turn.

Hayley Matthews | WI captain:
[On batting first after losing the toss] Yeah, I think it's a pretty good wicket here at the Oval. Not going to change too much. We probably would have had a bowl first, but at the same time, we feel like we've certainly got nothing to lose. We can go out there and play a really fearless brand of cricket.
[On lifting the team after an up-and-down group stage] Yeah, I think we need to keep believing, for one. But, you know, we just need some of our big players to step up, myself included. I feel like that's probably what we've missed this tournament. But it still brings a lot of positives, the fact that we have got to this stage without a lot of our big players really making big performances.
[On the importance of posting a big first-innings total] Yeah, 100%. Definitely a higher par score here and probably one of the best wickets in England. So we're definitely going to have to get a score from these first innings.
[On the West Indian support at the ground] Yeah, big West Indian support here tonight as well, so we will definitely have them on our side.

Lucy Hamilton to Hayley Matthews, FOUR, cracking shot to start things off! Hayley Matthews, wow! Full and angling away outside off, there for the drive and it's creamed through the covers. The captain setting the tone!

Kim Garth to Hayley Matthews, FOUR, flashes hard at the width on offer, more swing for Garth, takes the edge and flies through the gap between slip and short third.

Sophie Molineux to Hayley Matthews, FOUR, takes it from off stump and carves it past short third! Was an inswinger from round the wicket, she was cramped but the timing was still brilliant

Kim Garth to Hayley Matthews, FOUR, still getting it to swing nicely, but is outsmarted by Matthews who opens the face, guides it fine past the keeper and beats short third. Was the perfect good length, nothing much wrong with the delivery
