he could become a vital cog in our bowling attack....the pacers are fine just needs slow-learner Alzarri to step up more consistently an with Chase's lollipops to complement Motie assuming he can get the necessary technical assistance to kick on ...he has the talent no doubt but his main problem is pace he's much too quick through the air an getting him to bowl a little slower might be easier said than done but typically spinners mature an get better with age so @ 31 he's certainly not reached his prime an should not be cast aside in a hurry!!

He is not good enough for WI team. He let Jayden Seales make 70 against Guyana in the recent 4 day championship final!!!!!

Never mind that other bowlers like Joseph, Paul etc could not out Seales.

he has to perform plain and simple just like everybody else there is a young left arm spinner in barbados who has performed with both bat and ball he is not to far off from a wi pick .

Jump over who??...wasn't Motie the leading wicket taker in the regionals!.....an what's dis tripe about him not being able to dis Seales...is dis a unique phenomenon whereby a top bowler couldn't dismiss a tail ender???....some of allyuh just like a new face fuh the sake of it cos a new broom sweeps cleaner right???.....Motie's test record is not the worse (check it out) an it's better to invest an improve on somebody who has shown potential an has had good moments rather than starting afresh with a Rookie....31 is no age for a spinner to master his trade .....if ultimately he proves to be beyond improvement then move on but at the moment he's still the best option!!

To bring Motie in, you need to drop the VC.

I agree. A spinner needs reps. They need to bowl long spells on different wickets to really find their groove. At this stage, I would definitely invest in Motie before Bishop to give balance to the attack. My preference, however, is that if we can get an A team tour before the end of the year, Motie is sent on that tour as well as Bishop so one can compare how they bowl head to head. I would also consider the suggestion made on this board to move Greaves to opening instead of perhaps Campbell if he continues to waste opportunities and slot in a spinner. Greaves does not bowl so many overs so as to be too tired to open an innings.

In WI cricket the bowling coach is only for fast bowlers... a spinner must always fend for himself and is always expected to get 5 wickets....and if he gets one or two wickets....he can expect to be dropped

If he gets 5 in one test,,,and next test he gets none...he can expect to be dropped...

The most unappreciated player in WI cricket is the spinner.....WI still have the 4 prong mentality of yesteryear.....even though we are at the bottom of ICC standing for over 2 decades now

On point champ.....an yet ppl on dis MB still baying fuh rookies who may have shown a modicum of ability in the regionals an wan force ripe dem like Anderson an Ackeem fuh eg.....if all efforts to improve Motie have been exhausted then yes but I maintain that typically spinners take much longer to master their trade ...i doubt if greats like Murali an Warne were the finished article after having only played 11 tests....36 ODI's an 59 FC....as is the case with Motie!

Life isn't fair and it is more difficult to make a Test team as a spinner compared to a fast bowler. A specialist spinner is expected to be exceptional while a fast bowler can be competent.
