NO LOOKING BACK
Sammy wants WI to ‘remain in moment’ for 2nd Test
As pleasing as victory in the first Test was, Daren Sammy wants his players to “remain in the moment”, as they prepare to take on Sri Lanka in the second and final Test in Antigua. West Indies will seek to complete their first series victory in the new World Test Championship cycle and first at home against Sri Lanka since 2003 when they take on the visitors from tomorrow at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.
However, in a Cricket West Indies interview, the WI coach said his team could not afford to get carried away by their success in the first match. “What’s done is done,” he said. “The first Test is history.... We’ve still got to come back and put in the performance into the second Test and Sri Lanka would not be a walkover. We still gotta remain disciplined, plan properly again, and believe in the execution.”
