Unfair to drop Tarnish Da Silva

Fri, Jul 3, '26 at 10:47 AM

I am on the record for saying that Tarnish can’t bat or keep wicket

however he deserves this 3 match series to prove me right

Hodge should have been dropped or the same side retained

quite unfair to drop him after one match

@sudden

Based on his overall performance in the first test, I would say, the right candidate was selected. Phillips is more a concern for me.

@sudden

This was a rough one. Somebody must make way for Hope, you cannot drop Jangoo, but you could argue that Da Silva can play as a pure batsman and this has merit, he has the runs to show, but would he be a liability in the field? how much out-fielding has he done in his career?

I would have dropped Hodge and rolled the dice with Da Silva as a batsmen.

@natty_forever

I agree with you about Anderson, he a hard trier, but not up to test cricket.

@hawk

I will dropped Hodge, but playing Josh as a pure batsman might not work, batting at the top is very difficult and required skills that you have to be groom for many years.

Don't know, but it appears to me by the body language of some of the team that the mood is not great within the team.

Maybe it has something to do with Josh being dropped. Very rare for the selectors to change a winning team.

@Conorboy

or maybe from Hope coming in? or Roach not being there? You never know. But it seems that WI read this pitch wrongly and perhaps they needed an additional spinner rather than an additional seamer. That ball seems to be going back to and over the boundary faster than it is reaching the batsmen

@sudden

Yuh tink Josh wuddah pull off that stumping?

Show working

Fri, Jul 3, '26 at 5:49 PM

@powen001

and why not? He has stumped before, hasnt he? and tied the world record for dismissals in an innings. I not fighting up too much that he had to make way for Hope. I just expect that his FC batting for the past 2 years should count in considering whether he should play purely as a middle order batsman and let Hope keep the gloves rather than the argument that I have heard that we cannot play 3 wicketkeepers on the same team.

@sudden

The only one that don’t belong on the team is king,.

@PalsofMine

My thing is that He looked really woeful in the first Test.

and unlike Sudden...I like Josh.

His Keeping and Batting are not quite back yet...

but to my point.

I dont think Josh would have had the confidence to walk up to the stumps to Keep against mid pace bowling.

Fri, Jul 3, '26 at 10:35 PM

@PalsofMine

Why not? Because Josh is a horrible keeper. He needs to give up the gloves. He is a better batsman than most In the team. The gloves are holding him back and giving them an excuse to drop him

Sometimes we put too much pressure on these cricketers. I remember reading an article one day on the Trinidad Guardian news, "Who did Joshua DeSilva offend", making it appear that some unfair treatment was meted out to this guy. He got recalled, and looked so bad in the test match, that that article came right back to me.
