Swing & SEAM Bowling- Reverse and otherwise

Sun, Jul 5, '26 at 3:57 PM

The kind of topic that many a RUM SHOP used to be drowned with - back in the day.

Here we are now in 2026...The Rum Shop has moved online...much like the fans.

I dont think that FANS really and truly appreciate the Level of Skill and Expertise it takes to execute any of the techniques.

RED BARON a former poster had a CLASSIC Thread...SWEAM BOWLING was born based on a TYPO...(Swing & Seam) in the same delivery Still brings a smile to my face...especially when Baron cuss half the MB HA HAHA HA HA HA HA

But all kicks aside-

EXCELLENT TEST BOWLING is an ART.

WHITE BALL versus RED BALL sounds like a Part II discussion once you appreciate the Value of Test Cricket Bowlers in the wonderful sport we all love.

@powen001

Why can't you get swing and seam in the same delivery?

@Courtesy

I see you want to start back that thread.

I AGREED then and still do NOW!

I believe fellas had some notion that if you are a SEAM Bowler you rely on WHERE the Ball Pitches..

And I still dont understand the opposition to saying the BALL can SWING through the AIR and pitch OFF the SEAM

You were here then with RED BARON ent?

@powen001

Ok... let's get it unambiguously clear?

Do you agree that a delivery can swing and seam?

@Courtesy

YES

Its the aerodynamics from my understanding.

Wind speed,

Which side of the ball is preserved from the other allowed to go rough and beat up.

and of course the SKILL Set to deliver any ball required to outfox the Batsman

and to follow on.

If I call back rightly.

Men were arguing that The SEAM bowler relies ONLY on pitch placement...which for me does not speak to the SWING that can happen through the air.

@powen001

Ok...we are on the same wavelength.

Dis done from me.
